AT&T and new iPhone in 2009: 3G stocks minimal

Earlier today we reported about the Palm Pre having limited stock which you can read here. Has this left the door wide open for apple to exert more dominance on the cell phone market?
There is no confirmed news of a new apple iPhone but the rumours are beginning to materialise thanks to some of the solid sources that the rumours originate from.
Intomobile have found some news via Appleinsider which reports about low AT&T iPhone 3G stocks. You could look at this and think that the AT&T have strategically planned to clear the stock of the iPhone 3G to allow for the new iPhone in 2009
