Friday, April 17, 2009

Apple are not the only company to offer Cinema Display's for its iMac line, a number of companies also offer an alternative, and Collins America’s is just the latest with its range of CinemaView displays. The company will offer a choice of a 19-inch, 21-inch, and 24-inch. Do not think that these are just a cheap alternative, these Cinema View monitors are State of the art LCD panels.
Collins America will start to ship its new lineup by September 1, and will be a fraction of the cost of the genuine Apple Cinema Display. So what is different about Collins America's range compared to offer alternatives on the market, well its CinemaView range is the first standalone monitors to look similar and have almost the same features as the Apple's Cinema Display product line.
According to Information Week, the Collins America’s CinemaView has a thin aluminum frame and glass screen and has rubberized composite rear housing, the rear housing of the Apple display is gray aluminum. Collins system is like the Apple system, where it uses a Mini DisplayPort connector.
The major difference between the two is the price, the 24-inch CinemaView costs $499; the same size Apple model costs $899. The 21-inch model will cost $399 while the 19-inch will sell for $299.
